DIY Ghost Bucket Dupe

This is a great way to reuse those trick or treat pails from last year!

Did you manage to get your hands on the trendy cute ghost buckets this season? I missed out, so I made my own & you can, too.

Materials used:
Pumpkin Pail
Cardboard
Masking Tape
Paper strips ( ie newspaper or kraft paper)
Paper mache glue
Joint Tape
Joint compound
Small joint knife
White & black acrylic paint
(Materials linked in my LTK under “DIY Ghost Bucket”. https://liketk.it/4jxk5 )

A few notes on this project:

•Be sure to make a hole for the handle through each layer, so you don’t crack the compound trying to do it afterwards (#talkingfromexperience)

I found the compound was too thick to add the original handle to the pail. I added 16 gauge wire instead. But it’s totally fine to completely SKIP THE HANDLE.

•Be sure to sand between layer for the smoothest results. I will definitely sand better on my next one.

•I used masking tape because I thought it would be the easiest way to create a base for the paper mache layer.

•I used joint tape to give the bottom stability for the joint compound because I only did a single layer of paper mache.

•You can probably skip this ⬆️ step if you do several layers of paper mache instead. I simply used what I had.
